Cornelius Crane "Chevy" Chase was born in the Lower Manhattan area of New York City on October 8, 1943.

His father, Edward Tinsley "Ned" was a book editor and magazine writer and His mother, Cathalene Parker was a concert pianist and librettist.

Chase graduated in 1967 from bard college in the stream of Bachelors of Arts in English.

He started his career by co-founding  'Channel One' in 1967 , later he was appeared in the movie 'The Groove Tube’, which is directed by Ken Shapiro.

He was the member of Saturday Night Live (SNL) comedy Television show in 1975 as a writer. Eventually he started working as an anchor 'Weekly Update' segment of SNL.

Later he became a comedy actor and he received two Primetime Emmy Awards in 1976 for his comedy and writing.

In 1985, he received his first box-office hit for the film 'Fletch'. He is nominated as a Best Actor for Golden Globe Award.
